>> Entrepreneurship in Thailand
Whenever people hear the word Thailand, they tend to think of the tuk-tuks of Bangkok, the gold-tinted architecture and its generous stretches of white beaches. However, Thailand is also home to many billion dollar companies like PTT, CP Group, and Indorama Ventures. Even the formula of the immensely popular energy drink Red Bull was made here.
Thailand has the potential to become the central hub for entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia. The people of Thailand have a positive attitude towards entrepreneur and are undeterred by the fear of business failure which makes Thailand ranked the highest of the 65 countries covered by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor survey for 2016-17. The Thai population is largely optimistic and confident of being entrepreneurs and there is cultural support for experimentation and innovation for the foreigner as well. The Thai startup ecosystem is now immersive, diverse and thriving. The people in Thailand get onto new innovations and technologies promptly and maintain a high level of activity in the social media sphere.
The tax policy is also favorable to new startups in Thailand. Startups, like those in Fintech, can receive up to five years of income tax exemption whereas venture capital firms are exempted for ten years.
Thailand’s rising position as an international platform for startups is good news for entrepreneurs and investors alike.
Thailand has a myriad of untapped opportunities. Thailand’s vibrant and unique food culture, robust tourism industry, growing healthcare industry, and potential for intensive farming are all low hanging fruits in the business world which are ripe for the taking.
